【Drone】Meet the Unknown in Shenzhen ~UASexpo2024~【UFO in China】

Foreword

After witnessing the remarkable development of drones, I was struck by an indescribable emotion: What was the earliest drone?

Hello everyone, I am Gao Cheng from Beyond Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd..

This time I participated in the UASexpo（China International Unmanned Systems）exhibition held at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center from May 24 to 26, 2024!

I don’t know much about drones, and I don’t have a deep knowledge reserve. But this exhibition gave me new thoughts and broadened my interests. Let me introduce this exhibition with some photos!

What is UASexpo?

UASexpo is a drone exhibition held every year since 2016, and it is held on a very large scale.

In addition to the drone exhibition, this exhibition also has exhibitions related to robots and unmanned driving technology, which attracted a large number of visitors.

Before this, my impression of drones was still the kind that were placed in Japanese home appliance stores. But this exhibition brought together drones of various shapes, performances, and uses, which made me deeply feel the rapid evolution of drone technology and the development of its industry itself.

Drones of interest ①

Next, I would like to introduce the drones that I am interested in at this exhibition.

I am most interested in the drones of the well-known food delivery service – “Meituan Takeaway”!

Recently, Shenzhen has started to provide drone delivery services. Although I am very interested in this, due to the limitations of the drone’s own delivery service area, this service has not yet been popularized in the area where I live. ​So I am very happy to see the real thing at the exhibition this time.

By the way, as shown in the model below, the drone seems to take off and land from the top of the delivery box. I personally want this model (laughs).

From the Japanese perspective, the first thing they worry about is “Is it okay to fly a drone in the city?” or “What if an accident happens?” Of course, Chinese drone companies have certainly taken these issues into full consideration. Being able to take the lead in creating new things while taking these aspects into consideration makes me feel the strength of Chinese companies again.

The drones themselves are also constantly being improved and upgraded, such as flight distance, performance at night, and in bad weather.

Interested drone ②

This is a drone that looks like a UFO, so you might wonder if all the “UFOs” in the world are it?

This is a drone called “iUFO” by Shenzhen Zhihang UAV Co., Ltd. It is mainly used for sightseeing and entertainment, and the center of the disc can carry people.

From the appearance of the drone, it can be seen that it is very conspicuous at the exhibition. I guess many people came for it.

I checked and found that the weight of the passenger of this drone is limited. If I go up now, I will not fall, and I can’t even fly (it can be used for the 2-seater drone model). This UFO feeling that makes E.T. ashamed and its indescribable entertainment design are really admirable.

The movements during the flight are also the same as those of a UFO. How should I put it? I even thought, “Isn’t this a UFO?”. Watching it fly, my language ability was reduced to zero, and the word “UFO” was all in my mind.

In this exhibition, in addition to the drones introduced in this article, companies such as unmanned driving technology and humanoid robots also exhibited, which together constituted this wonderful and interesting exhibition.

Since the exhibition is held from Friday to Sunday, I think there should be many people with children on weekends. As for our company’s business, although the hardware field is still an unknown, there are many unknown factors. But I want to develop business in Shenzhen, China while considering various possibilities.

In addition, for me personally, I am very happy to learn about the wide application of drones in society, such as disaster relief and patrol. These are all things I didn’t know before.

If we use the very broad term “information technology” to summarize this exhibition, I think it is not completely unrelated to the work we are doing now. I hope that through such an exhibition, I can broaden my interests and horizons, and increase my knowledge at the same time!
