A few days ago, I visited “Gankeng Hakka Town (also known as Gankeng Ancient Town)” located in Longgang District, Shenzhen. Below, I\u2019ll share what it\u2019s like.<\/p>\n

About Gankeng Hakka Town<\/h2>\n

Around 1662 during the Qing Dynasty, Hakka people who migrated from northern China settled here, building a village. They constructed houses in a unique architectural style called ” Weilongwu ” (enclosed dragon houses) on the hillsides and gradually put down roots in this land.<\/p>\n

Over time, the dilapidated buildings were renovated, and the area was reborn as “Gankeng Hakka Town” \u2014 a place where Hakka culture and spirit are preserved. Today, it has become one of Shenzhen\u2019s most popular scenic spots, achieving a harmonious blend of history and tourism.<\/p>\n

In Gankeng Hakka Town (also known as Gankeng Ancient Town), ancient Weilongwu houses made of brick and earth walls line both sides of the stone-paved alleys. Everywhere you go, you can feel the historical heritage and life wisdom of the Hakka people.<\/p>\n
